Science
At Burnley High School, the Science department provides a high-quality education, covering the National Curriculum for Science, which sets the foundations for understanding the world through the study of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Our curriculum aims to inspire our pupils by empowering them, giving them the opportunities to embed their natural curiosity through investigating scientific phenomena both practically and through current Scientific articles. Through the study of the National Curriculum and additional content, pupils acquire key component and composite knowledge as well as scientific expertise, allowing them to become critical thinkers, problem solvers and innovators, which they will be able to apply to the challenges of the ever-changing environment that we live in.
We recognise that improving educational outcomes is the most fundamental way we can positively impact our students’ futures and therefore, we have ensured that our curriculum is inclusive, adaptive and appropriately challenging.
